About Casa Playa

Let's not bury the lede: This unit offers a unique glimpse into Mid-Century Modern architectural history. It was designed by noted Modernist architect Gin D. Wong, whose achievements include California landmarks such as LAX's famous Theme Tower, CBS Television City, and San Francisco's Transamerica Pyramid Tower. Nodding to California's Post-War architectural renaissance, the unit features oversized ceilings and doors, with period-specific mirrors enlarging the already generous living spaces. Steps from but not obstructed by one of the resort's 34 intimate swimming pools, the unit features breathtaking mountain views. Inside, the living space, kitchen, and dining areas reflect 1960s atomic-age design, with colorful, playful elements, including a Barcelona daybed, brand-new futuristic electric window shades, and playful George Jetson furniture, a theme that continues in the front bedroom and hall bath, both newly renovated. The primary suite (and also just-renovated) spa-like bath, for their part, mirrors the calm earth tones of towering Mount San Jacinto; also, their decor respectfully gestures toward the Coachella Valley's indigenous past and the Cahuilla tribe, on whose land the Casa sits. Finally, the outdoor living room, with its overstuffed furniture and jungle-themed area rugs, provides a perfect spot to enjoy the outdoor gas fire pit, boutique red Weber Q grill, and Bocce ball set, ideal for enjoying your "front lawn" -- the first fairway of our 27 holes of golf.

Desert Princess Country Club

Besides the 27 holes of Championship Golf, there are plenty of tennis courts (some lighted until 10 pm & two stadium courts), a just-renovated state-of-the-art fitness center & a full-service spa. The Mountain View Grille, a short walk from the unit, offers complete dining and bar service, a snack bar, banquet facilities, and numerous social functions during the season. You can access the clubhouse and all facilities as a tenant. In addition to golf, tennis, and spa, there are lighted pickleball courts, two racquetball courts, a basketball half-court, a lap pool heated year-round, Bocce ball clay courts & horseshoes. DoubleTree by Hilton

The DoubleTree by Hilton resort is on-site, adjacent to the country club and chipping area off the 9th hole of the Lagos course. It was recently remodeled and features a large resort-style pool, a fine-dining restaurant, and a central bar perfect for entertaining guests or a nice change from the Mountain View Grill at the Country Club. Gates

The Vista Chino (main gate) is open 24 hours a day. The Landau gate is open from 9 am to 3 pm each day.

House and Resort Rules

There are some basic rules to keep in mind. Please give them a quick look over, and you'll be all set!

Kitchen

Think of the kitchen as yours, and feel free to use all of it. If you find anything missing, please let us know. Glasses and plates break. That's life! Please let us know so that we can replace any items.

Smart Speaker (music)

There is an Alexa smart speaker located in the living room. It responds to the name "computer." You can use it to play music and more. Try it! Say, "Computer, play Frank Sinatra." That's very Palm Springs.

Television

Each room and the living room have a television with Spectrum Cable. The living room is a smart TV that uses the Spectrum app. The primary bedroom has a DVR. The secondary bedroom uses Apple TV. The channel lineup is here.

Trash

Trash is located in the pantry. The red on the left is regular trash, and the white on the right is recyclables.
